'You are mistaken,' said he gently, 'that is not good company, that is the best.”
― Jane Austen, Persuasion
At the age of 19, Anne Elliot was persuaded to give up the love of her life, Captain Wentworth, due to his lack of fortune. Eight years later fate brings them together again.
Jane Austen’s final novel, posthumously published, is a story of second chances and finding love despite what others think is best.
This candle brings the sea ashore, a nod to Wentworth’s naval background, with an aromatic and musky fragrance that evolves and matures the longer the candle is burning. With hints of citrus blended with salt and woody aromas allow this candle to remind you of one of Austen’s most loved heroines and the promise of true companionship.

Fragrance: Fresh Cut Grass
Info: Demeter was the Greek Goddess of agriculture, harvest, spring and the cycle of life and death with the power to influence the seasons.
Her daughter Persephone was kidnapped by Hades and hidden in the Underworld. Demeter searched endlessly for her daughter but her grief was so great that living things began to perish. Hermes was sent by Zeus to bring Persephone back to prevent the extinction of life on earth but before she left Hades gave her a pomegranate that when she ate it bound her to him for a third of the year. Hence, during the spring and summer life flourishes as Demeter rejoices at being reunited with her daughter but during the autumn and winter nature hibernates as she waits for Persephone to return.
Demeter’s story shows the perseverance and strength of a mother’s love and this candle celebrates that by mirroring the nature and life that flourishes under her touch with a fresh green herbal accord of freshly cut stems, soft grass and water lily.

Info: Boudicca was the 1st Century Celtic Queen of the Iceni who led a revolt against Roman rule in ancient Britain. Famed for her defeat of the Ninth Legion and the massacre of 70,000 Romans before she and her daughters took poison rather than be captured.
She has been celebrated throughout the centuries, most notably during the reigns of Elizabeth I and Victoria, and was even adopted by the suffragettes as the embodiment for the struggle for justice and independence.
This scent represents the little-known history of British women at this time. The women who taught warriors how to fight and led men into battles; their strength, stability and courage in the face of adversity. Breathe in this soothing yet invigorating scent and relax knowing that for centuries women have always been heroines. They did it and you can too.
